FOOTBALL PREVIEW: The Peterborough Sports' back-up boys are pretty good as well

Sports, who beat Deeping Rangers 3-1 with goals from Andy Boome, Dan Fountain and Jamie Graham last weekend (March 5), are currently third, three points behind Moulton who also have two games in hand.

Whittlesey Athletic are second, level on points with Sports, and the city side travel to Feldale Field for the first of two big games in four days on March 19.

On Tuesday, March 22 Sports host Moulton under the PSL floodlights, a game that was originally scheduled for tomorrow (March 12), but a waterlogged pitch has caused a postponement.

Sports are now playing Deeping Rangers Reserves again tonight (March 11) at Outgang Road before Moulton travel to Thorney tomorrow.

“This is only our second season in the top flight,” Bradley said. “Last season we finished ninth and our aim this time was to get into the top six.

“So we have exceeded all our expectations so far, but the next two games will tell us where we are exactly.

“We haven’t played Moulton or Whittlesey yet, but we’ve only lost once, back in September, 1-0 at Langtoft after missing a penalty and having a man sent off!

“We’re looking forward to the big games, but no matter what the results, the title will still be in Moulton’s hands. A lot of their rivals have each other to play and they will all drop points at some stage.

“My players have been excellent though and we get great support from the rest of the club. Peterborough Sports have a reputation for doing things the right way and that helps us attract players.

“Do well for us and you get a shot at playing in our first-team and that’s not a bad incentive.”

Whittlesey they have a tough fixture at home to fifth-placed Pinchbeck tomorrow. Whittlesey lost ground last weekend when drawing 0-0 at Netherton, while Ollie Maltby’s hat-trick was steering Moulton to a 5-1 win at Uppingham.
