CHRIS TURNER STATUE FUND: Soul night organised in honour of a Posh legend

Local soul music fans and long-term Peterborough United supporters Steve Allen and Paul Donnelly have organised a fund-raising night for the Chris Turner statue fund.

A two-room event has been organised at the Abax Stadium, London Road, the home of Peterborough United FC, for Friday, June 17

The main room will concentrate on Northern 60s soul and Motown, the other will be accommodating those that like their Soul with a Jazz Funky edge. Local D/J’s Carl Fortnum, Skip Stuart, Martin Sandford, Ian Pass will be joining Steve and Paul to spin the vinyl in both rooms.

Former players from the Wembley-winning Posh squad, which was managed by Chris Turner, have been invited to attend.

Advance tickets priced £6 can be purchased from the ticket office at the ABX or online at www.theposhtickets.com. Entry on the night will be £8.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chris Turner Statue Fund. The fund has already raised £45,000, over half of the expected cost.
