Eagle finish earns Milton ace Thalia a top title

The event at Kingsthorpe came to a stunning conclusion as Martin, a Preston University student, snatched a one stroke victory from Northampton’s Leah Ribano.

The 2016 county ladies champion looked out of contention before she birdied the 16th hole and then bagged an eagle three down the last to grab the first prize with a gross 78.

Milton youngsters Jade Roberts and Shivani Karthikeyan were in the Northamptonshire county team that won the Midlands Girls Championship with a 6-3 win against Buckinghamshire in the final at Tadmarton Heath GC in Oxfordshire.

Karthikeyan won her game 2&1 and Roberts staged a tremendous comeback after trailing by six holes at one stage to clinch a point by holing a six-footer on the 18th hole.
