DUATHLON: Claire joins Elite League in France

Peterborough Triathlon Club (PACTRAC) member Claire Steels has started racing on a regular basis in France.

The 2015 world duathlon champion has joined a professional team to compete on the elite duathlon cricuit in the French Duathlon League.

She made her debut for the Val De Gray team at the weekend in the opening race at Paillencourt and finished 17th out of 82 competitors.

She finished in 63:05 with the winner, Cecile Lejeune of France, clocking 59:24. The distances were run 3-miles, bike 12.5 miles and run 1.5 miles.

The six-strong Val de Gray team comprised Steels, four French girls and one Italian and Steels was the first member of her team home.

The PACTRAC Peterborough Duathlon takes place at Castor on Sunday morning (April 2).
