Although there were some outstanding individual performances, Cambridgeshire were unable to make their long trip to Cornwall at the weekend a winning one.

They were beaten 22-17 at St Austell and slipped to sixth in the BDO Inter-Counties League Premier Division table.

Star of the show was undoubtedly Claire Ball. Not only did the March USC thrower win her match 3-0 but she finished with a superb average of 31.98 which was the highest by a female in all the weekend’s BDO League matches .

Unfortunately Ball was Cambs’ only winner in the ladies ‘A’ team match. Cornwall won that one 5-1 after the women’s B team match ended all square at 3-3.

Ball won the ‘A’ team match award while Karen Stanhope was the ‘B’ team match award winner.

Honours were also shared at men’s ‘A’ team level 6-6. Here Cambs’ England star Martin Adams was the recipient of the match award after winning 4-1 and finishing with a top average of 29.34.

Dennis Harbour, recent winner of the Latvian Open, was also an impressive 4-1 winner and had a 27.70 average.

Cambs took the honours 7-5 in the men’s ‘B’ team match with Peter Fuller taking the match award.
