Darts: Adams looking for some Dutch courage

Martin Adams will be in Holland this weekend attempting to win the Dutch Open.

The competition is the largest open darts tournament in Europe and the men’s singles alone will feature a massive 2,482 players.

Ross Montgomery defends the title in Assen while new world champion Scott Mitchell, who beat Adams in the Lakeside final earlier this month, is also among the entries. Adams has been drawn against unknown Daniel Kay son.

The first prize is 5,000 euros.

In the World Darts Trophy, which takes place in Manchester from February 26, Adams has been seeded number two behind Mitchell. He meets American Jim Wildmayer, the player he thrashed 4-0 in the second round of the BDO World Championship, in the opening round.

There’s another open singles tournament at the Post Office Club in Bourges Boulevard tomorrow (January 30).

It’s £3 to enter, registration is at 7.45pm and there’s a £50 guaranteed prize.

Winner of the last tournament was Adam Cousins.
