Dennis Harbour failed in his bid to retain the Scottish Open title in Renfrew yesterday (February 14).
The Dogsthorpe man was beaten 4-2 by Jamie Hughes at the last 16 stage while his Cambridgeshire county team-mate Martin Adams from Deeping fell in the previous round. He lost to Dave Parletti 4-0.
The massive tournament, which attracted over 2,000 players, was won by Dutchman Danny Noppert, who beat Dean Reynolds from Wales 6-0 in the final.
Cambridgeshire may have missed out in the men’s singles but they did have a winner at the event. Claire Brookin, who plays for the Bull, Newborough, in the Cambs Super League, teamed up with Anne Marie Swindells to win the women’s pairs title. They beat Deta Hedman and Rachel Brooks 3-0 in the final.
