Phantoms riders make national BMX finals

Four Peterborough Phantoms riders made it through to '˜A' finals at the National BMX Championships in Gosport at the weekend.

Joseph Carey (Male 12 yrs), Leah Pearson (30+ Female Cruiser) and Bethany Campbell (17+ Female) reached their ‘A’ finals on both days while Jacob Elkin (40-44 Cruiser) did so on Saturday.

Pearson achieved two fourth-place finishes and is fourth overall in the series while Campbell was fourth in her Saturday final and fifth on Sunday and she is fifth overall in her class.

Carey’s two final finishes were sixth and seventh and he is seventh in the overall standings.

Elkin was eighth in his A final.

Also competing from Peterborough Phantoms was Jazz Newton (Male 10yrs) and he just missed out on a place in the quarter-finals.

Racing on Sunday was cut to two motos (heats) due to heavy rain and strong winds.

Joseph Carey - heats 1st, 2nd, 3rd. quarter-final 2nd. semi-final - 3rd. A final - 7th.

Jazz Newton - heats 7th, 7th, 6th.

Jacob Elkin - heats 4th, 4th, 5th. A final - 8th.

SUNDAY

Leah Pearson - heats - 3rd, 2nd. semi-final - 2nd. A final - 4th.

Bethany Campbell - heats 7th, 2nd. semi-final - 4th. A final - 4th.

Joseph Carey - heats 2nd, 2nd. quarter-final - 2nd. semi-final - 3rd. A final - 6th.

Jacob Elkin - heats 5th, 6th.
