The Fenland Clarion 2-up team time trial produced an expected victory for Dave Langlands and Paul Lunn, who clocked a time of 49.08 for the 21-mile course around Helpston.

The battle for second place, however, was much more keenly contested as Malc Jacklin and Jerry Norman did just enough to hold off the chasing pack.

They finished in 53.03 with the guest pairing of Dave Clow and Oliver Laverick clocking 53.12 for third place.

Other times were: Martin Atkinson/Jonny Hynes 53.26, Dave Thorold/Joe Clarke 53.32, Simon Pitchford/Dan Hustwayte 54.11, Adam Robinson/Andrew Gilbey 54.11, Howard Rabard/Daniel Wilson 58.03, Stuart Goodliffe/Darren Putt 60.16, Ian Richardson/Phil Gee 60.32; the Mia Purnell/Jonathan Oakey 64.29.

In the fifth round of the Northants time trial series, the 15-mile Sawtry-based course provided some good local results.

Fenland Clarion riders picked up the team award with Paul Lunn second in 33.34, Dave Langlands fourth in 33.45 and the rapidly improving Steve Kaye 12th with his time of 35.00.

Other Fenland times: Simon Pitchford 35.19, Malc Jacklin 36.39, Mark Ingram 37.05; Phil Merritt 39.43.
