For the second weekend running a Fenland Clarion club record was broken by one of their junior riders.
Last week 14 year-old Mia Purnell broke the 38 year-old youth girls 10-mile record previously belonging to Lindsay Clarke at the national final of the GHS on the A10 course.
One week on and fellow Arthur Mellows Village College pupil Jerry Norman broke the boys equivalent with his 22.37 in the Northants time trial.
Clarion times for the event at Brogborough were: Dave Langlands 20.41 (4th overall); Simon Pitchford 21.41; Steve Kaye 22.25; Jerry Norman 22.37 (1st junior); Paul Lilley 22.43; Mark Ingram 22.49; Sean Beard 23.37; Adam Robinson 23.45; Steve Clarke 24.32; Lindsay Clarke 24.36 (2nd lady); Alison Lilley 26.32.
Fenland Clarion held their 25 mile club championship with the Cullip Cup at stake for the winner on the Connington-based circuit.
Malc Jacklin won it with his 59.26 followed by Steve Kaye 59.53, Lynden Leadbeater 1.00.31, Steve Hope 1.05.20, Steve Clarke 1.05.53, Phil Merritt 1.10.07 and Jim Fell 1.15.52.
Fenland Clarion are holding a youth cyclo-cross race night at the Embankment athletics track tomorrow (September 25).
It’s open to riders of all abilities and is ideal for youngsters (Under 10 to Under 16) who want to take up the sport.
Every rider will get two races, registration is from 6pm and racing is from 6.30pm-8pm. The evening will cost £4.
