Steve Wood collected the lion’s share of trophies when Peterborough Cycling Club held their 140th prize presentation night at the ICA Fleet Complex in Old Fletton on Sunday.
Wood’s awards included topping the ranking list with 5,560 points from 55 races, the prestigious Rimes Cup, the Helpston 10-mile Club Championship and the Veteran Road Race Championship.
Annette Wyld was crowned women’s time trial champion with Victoria Valentine winning the road race championship with Nick Berwick winning the Peterborough ET trophy.
Other winners were: Nick Hitchens, Chris Rimes, Dave Yarham, Paul Pardoe, Paul Townsin, Dave Sargent, Michael Smalley, Simon Pidduck and Lee Forester.
Club member Martin Bullen, who re-joined the club last season after moving away to Derbyshire, was surprised when asked to present the trophies.
He was equally surprised to be given a special award in recognition of two sterling performances last year that saw him clock two personal bests at 10 and 25 miles which were ironically faster than when racing regularly back in 1969-74.
