Ketton warmed up for tonight’s Stamford KO Shield quarter-final at neighbours Stamford with an emphatic 297-run win in the Rutland League yesterday (June 5).
Ulrich Van Duyker smashed an unbeaten 166 for Ketton who piled up 371-3 in their 45 overs against Whittlesey in a Division Two match at Pit Lane. The team’s other big hitters Zeeshan Manzoor (89) and Shakir Mahmood (61) also made healthy contributions to a team who are top of Division Two with six wins from six matches.
Whittlesey were shot out for just 74 in reply, but Ketton will expect a sterner contest this evening (June 6) in the Twenty/20 format.
The other quarter finals take place at Barnack, Bourne and Ufford Park tonight.
The quarter-finals of the Jaidka Cup also take place this week and there are some tasty-looking ties.
Northants Twenty/20 champions Oundle host Market Deeping tomorrow (June 7) with the other three quarter-finals due on Wednesday (June 8).
Holders Nassington have a tough tie at Bourne, while Wisbech will be hot favourites to beat Castor at Harecroft Road.
Ramsey will fancy their chances at a Peterborough Town team shorn of several star names. Fast bowler Joe Dawborn is away playing for the Unicorns - the Minor Counties select XI - fellow paceman David Sayer has a game for the Leicesterhsire Academy and Asim Butt, Jamie Smith and Tim Young will also be absent.
