Cricket: Castor professional Tariq Aziz enjoyed an excellent ICC European Divison 2 Championships.
The Portuguese opening batsman cracked two half centuries and averaged 56 to help to his side to an eighth place finish in Division Two of the competition in Corfu.
Aziz opened his tournament with a blistering 85 from just 65 balls (five sixes, four fours) in an easy win over Luxembourg. He also struck 55 not out against Malta, 45 against Israel, 14 against Estonia and two against Spain when he batted down the order.
He was ranked eighth most valuable player of the tournament.
Portugal finished third in their group to qualify for the 5th-8th place play-offs where they lost to Finland despite 26 from Aziz.
The matches were played over a Twenty20 format. Aziz has already been asked to represent Portugal in next year’s event in Malaga.
