Wisbech wizard Sam Rippington bowled superbly as Cambs kept alive their chances of progress in the Unicorns Trophy with a rapid win over Suffolk at Bury St Edmunds yesterday (May 10).
Rippington bagged 4-31 from 10 overs as Suffolk were skittled for just 83, a target Cambs passed for the loss of four wickets to seal victory with just under half of the 100 scheduled match overs unused.
Joe Barrs (3-33) and Ketton’s Rob Woolley (2-5) also bowled well. Woolley was undefeated on 22 at the close with Michael Cafferkey of Ramsey on 26 not out.
Peterborough Town pair David Clarke and Lewis Bruce scored 16 and 0 respectively. Bruce was dismissed first ball to leave Cambs struggling briefly at 36-4. Town’s Paul McMahon, the Cambs captain, took 1-4 from four overs.
Cambs must now beat Norfolk in their final group match at Ley’s School, Cambridge on Sunday (May 17) and hope that Herts beat Suffolk to qualify for the knockout stages.

Bourne’s Carl Wilson was 106 not out when Lincs completed a seven-wicket Unicorns Trophy win over Shropshire yesterday.
