Splendid finish from Matt as Peterborough Town complete another strong season, Hodgson hammers it for Oundle, Barnack are champions, Cambs League constitution for 2019

Peterborough Town finished another strong season with a five-wicket win over Wollaston in the Northants Premier Division at Bretton Gate (September 22).

That completed a ninth successive top three finish for Town who also won the prestigious Northants T20 Cup and reached the last 16 of two National competitions, the T20 Cup and the Club KO.

Off spinner Matt Milner was the star of the show on the final day taking 6-7 in just seven overs and two balls as Wollaston were despatched for just 77.

Milner finished the season with 36 wickets, the fifth best haul in the Premier Division. He finished one spot behind Oundle’s young left-arm slow bowler Harrison Craig who claimed 38 victims.

Captain David Clarke (22) top scored in Town’s reply. Clarke finished with 661 runs, the sixth highest total in the top flight.

Oundle enjoyed themselves on the final day smacking 209-5 in just 19 overs at Geddington before rain caused an abandonment. Mark Hodgson led the way with a blistering 85 from just 49 balls which included 13 fours and four sixes.

Oundle finished a creditable seventh.

Barnack sealed their first Rutland Division One title since 1994 without bowling a ball as their final game at Weldon was postponed.

The villagers had only needed one point against relegated opponents anyway.

March Town pipped Castor for the second promotion spot in controversial fashion. Scheduled opponents Newborough conceded the final game of the season to March to enable them to sneak past Castor who had already completed their fixtures.

The Cambs League have released their constitution for 2019 already.

The league changes from two divisions of 12 teams to two divisions of 10 teams and one of nine.

Ak 11, Bharat Sports and Newborough have all been promoted from Hunts Division One into Cambs Division Three.
