Peterborough Town crushed Finedon by seven wickets in their semi-final yesterday, while Old Northamptonians pipped Oundle Town by 22 runs in a much more exciting last-four match at Milton Road.

Peterborough Town’s tie was over in the first hour as their hosts, after electing to bat first, were reduced to 37-7 by top-class seamers Mark Edwards (4-16) and Jamie Smith (3-23).

Finedon limped up to 95 all out, but that was never likely to test unbeaten Peterborough Town who romped home with almost 16 overs to spare.

Oundle felt the full force of former Northants first-class player Rob White who smashed 127 from 103 balls, a knock that included 13 fours and seven sixes as ONs piled up 246-6 in their 40 overs.

But Oundle made a strong start to their reply with Pete Foster smacking 77 from just 55 balls during an opening stand of 95 with Dan Robinson (30). Conor Craig (62, 46 balls) then took up the fight, but a lack of batting depth eventually host Oundle as they lost their last five wickets for 38 runs to finish on 224.

Sam Evison’s half century couldn’t save Bourne from a 55-run Lincs Premier Division play-off semi-final defeat at home to Lincoln. Lincoln take on Grantham in the final at Bourne next Saturday (11.30am).
