In a 40-over match Town restricted their hosts to 179-6 and, despite losing three early wickets, a partnership of 94 between skipper David Clarke (70) and Lewis Bruce (51no) set them on the way to victory with eight overs to spare.

Oundle were well beaten at Rushden & Higham in their opening fixture despite 51 from opener Dan Robinson. Northants staff member Emilo Gay struck an unbeaten 75 for Rushden.

Wisbech claimed an impressive eight-wicket win at Eaton Socon in Cambs Division One even though they conceded 50 wides in the home side’s 201. That enabled Socon to recover from 3-3, but it ultimately didn’t matter thanks to 85 not out from Wisbech opener Danny Haynes.

Andrew George (61no) claimed his highest Cambs Division One score in a five-wicket win at Cambridge seconds.

In Hunts Division One Stamford won by five wickets at Nassington after the home side were skittled for just 61. Stamford recovered from 1-3 to win. Seventeen year-old Sam Younger took three wickets for Stamford, while 14 year-old Jacob Hewitt bagged two wickets and took a great catch.
