A terrible bowling display cost Hunts over 50s dearly in their latest veterans cup match against Northants at Bretton Gate today (June 17).
Hunts looked set fair for victory at half-time after posting 254-5 in their 45 overs, but the visitors stormed past that total with five overs and seven wickets to spare.
That was hard luck on Gary Scotcher (Nassington) who cracked 90 and Grant Biddle (Kimbolton) who made 79 in the Hunts innings. Bob Milne (Peterborough Town) contributed 39.
“We bowled half-way down the wicket all innings,” crestfallen Hunts skipper Bob Milne admitted. “Usually one or two do it, but all six bowlers did it today!”
Hunts have now lost three of their five group matches and they will need to win their final two games at Suffolk and Leicestershire to have any chance of making the knockout stages.
