Market Deeping Cricket Club have revealed a major new overseas signing for the 2015 season.

South African Emile Kriek has agreed terms to spend a summer at Outgang Road playing in the Lincs Premier Division and coaching the club’s youngsters.

Kriek (25) comes with an impressive pedigree. He’s the current captain of Boland who compete in high-class provincial cricket in South Africa. One of his team-mates in outstanding Oundle all-rounder Petrus Jeftha.

Kriek has scored over 2,000 first-class runs including two centuries with a top score of 149. He can also bowl medium pace.

“We’re very pleased to have signed Emile,” Deeping skipper Dave Gillett said. “He’s exactly what we need, a strong all-round cricketer who will improve the team, but who will also help improve the club with his coaching skills.”
