The Cambs/Hunts Over 60s team have marched into the semi-finals of the Eastern Veterans Championships.

The local golden oldies thumped Norfolk by 10 wickets at North Runcton yesterday (September 8) to book an away date at Hertfordshire in the last four next Tuesday (September 15).

Captain Nick Andrews and Richard Ewing both two wickets as Norfolk were restricted to 122-8 before Andrews (40no) joined forces with prolific opener Nigel Gadsby (76no) to knock the runs off.

King’s Keys are one win away from a first Rutland Division One title after winning comfortably at Uffington. Unbeaten Peterborough Town kept in touch at the top after an eight-wicket win over Burghley Park which featured a fine innings of 76 from Kyle Medcalf.

Werrington are clear at the top of Division Four East after thrashing Wisbech seconds by 146 runs.

Naveed Ul-Hassan struck 94 for the city side.

Emerging talent Matty Mills struck 83 as Newborough Bulls stayed top of South Lincs Division One West with a comprehensive 98-run win over Long Sutton. Tom Olley weighed in with 5-17 as Long Sutton were dismissed for 119 in pursuit of Newborough’s 217-8.

Best bowling of the weekend came from Nilantha Atapattu who claimed 6-6 in Spalding’s low scoring 40-run win over Woodhall Spa seconds in Division One East. Spalding are unbeaten in third place.

The Hunts Division One North match between Barnack and Stamford yielded 441 runs in 80 overs with the latter sneaking home by nine runs. Alex Birch (91) and Simon Prentice (51) dominated Stamford’s 225 all out with Yasir Mirza making 88 of Barnack’s 216-5. Burghley Park remain top and unbeaten after easing to a six-wicket win at Nassington. Orlando Thain struck 54 for Burghley after Stuart Biggs and Mo Azhar had taken three wickets each.
