First ton for Castor skipper, Fantastic Freear settles fen derby, best win of the season for Market Deeping

Smith finished unbeaten on 102 to set=up a resounding 179-win at bottom club Great Shelford in a Division Two match. Castor closed on 254-4 before skittleing Shelford out for just 75. Ace seamer Stuart Dockerill (4-15) returned the best bowling figures.

Castor have now soared up to fourth place and will record the best finish of the local clubs as Stamford Town and Ufford Park were both beaten yesterday.

Ufford slipped into relegation trouble after losing by three wickets at home to rivals Southill Park. Ufford are now just 15 points ahead of Southill who sit in the final relegation place.

In Division One Wisbech completed a double success over fen rivals March Town thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 131 from Gary Freear. Freear struck 16 fours and a six in a knock that occupied 166 balls as Wisbech reached their victory target of 237 with 15 balls to spare.

Earlier Brandon Phillips (51) and Saranga Rajaguru (50) had posted half centuries for March. Freear also took 2-37.

Market Deeping claimed their best win of the Lincs Premier Division by seeing off third-placed Sleaford by 25 runs, while Bourne recovered from 75-4 to pass Alford’s 186 with four wickets in hand. Hong Kong international Courtnet Kruger (47) and Lincs minor counties captain Carl Wilson (44) staged the recovery act.

Jack Berry had earlier taken 5-51 for Bourne after Matt Kidd had bagged three early wickets.
