Stamford were no match for Rutland League Division One leaders Uppingham yesterday (May 24).

The Lincolnshire side were thrashed by nine wickets after being skittled for just 56.

Only Liam Dave (10), Andrew Hulme (11) and Tim Juggins (15no) managed to reach double figures as Uppingham’s opening attack of Danny Dumford (4-17 off 12 overs) and Alex Ashwin (3-15 off 12 overs) wreaked havoc.

Jamie Dumford hit an unbeaten 42 for Uppingham as they cruised to 57-1 in 8.5 overs.

Barnack won by 27 runs at bottom club Medbourne thanks to some fine batting by Asim Butt (64) and Abdul Shafiq (91).

Shafiq’s score came off 111 deliveries and included 13 fours and a six as Barnack postd a formidable 239-9.

Ramsey played in the East Anglian Premier Division Twenty/20 by invitation after winning Cambs Division One last season.

They lost in the first round at Cambridge-based Granta yesterday (May 24).

The scores were: Granta 165-6 (M. Holden 57no, M. Cafferkey 2-39). Ramsey 108-9 (J. Barningham 33, E. Cafferkey 30).

Peterborough Town’s scheduled Northants Twenty/20 Cup tie at home tomorrow (May 26) is off after opponents Geddington conceded.
