Holders Stamford became the first team to win through to the Burghley Sixes finals night when they knocked out Market Overton last night (July 8).
They’ll take their place in tomorrow’s semi-finals after beating Overton by seven runs in the first quarter-final.
Tom Williams walloped six fours and a six in his 36 and Simon Prentice continued his excellent tournament with an unbeaten 21 to steer Stamford to 71-3.
In reply Stamford bowled superbly to restrict Overton to 64-1.
Barnack reached the quarter-finals at the expense of Stamford Rugby Club in the first tie of the night, The Rugby Club were bowled out for 56 and Barnack cruised to victory with 2.5 overs to spare. Amir struck four sixes and four fours in his 42 not out.
Competition newcomers Baston started with a victory. In the final first round match of the competition, they overhauled Oakham’s 68-2 with five balls to spare and without losing a wicket.
Rob Dunn hit five fours and two sixes and Liam Davies five fours and a six. Both made 32 not out.
