Former Peterborough Town player Rob Sayer has extended his first-class contract at Leicestershire until 2018.
Off-spinner and hard-hitting batsman Sayer (20) made a mightily impressive NatWest T20 debut when he took 2-16 at Durham Jets this season and that followed on from an encouraging performance against the touring New Zealanders.
Sayer represented England Under 19s at a World Cup while still a Town player. He moved to the city’s premier club from Upwood Cricket Club.
Leicestershire chief executive Wasim Khan said; “Rob has done well when given the opportunity in the first team and is a young spinners with a bright future in the game.”
Rob’s younger brother David, a left-arm fast bowler, is contracted to the Leicestershire Academy. He has been out of action this summer with a back injury.
