Lewis Bruce returns to the Cambridgeshire side for their Twenty/20 play-off match against Bedfordshire at Cople CC on Sunday (June 28).

Work commitments kept the Peterborough Town skipper out of this week’s Minor Counties Championship defeat to Bucks at Wisbech.

Clubmates Paul McMahon, Asim Butt and Joe Dawborn are also involved alongside Ramsey’s Michael Cafferkey and Wisbech players James Williams, Sam Rippington and Josh Bowers.

The winners contest a Min (c)or Counties Finals Day at Banbury CC next month.

Cambs squad: McMahon, Williams, Bowers, Bruce, Bryant, Butt, Cafferkey, Dawborn, Howgego, Park, Rippington, Woolley.

Butt was in excellent form against Bucks as was Ketton’s Ben Bryant who struck 101 not out on his debut, but Cambs lost for the second time in a row despite scoring 427-8 in their first innings.

Cambs are now next-to-bottom in the Eastern Division. Their next Championship match is against Suffolk at March (July 5).

Scores: Cambs 427-8 (A. Butt 123, B. Bryant 101no, B. Howgego 71, P. Richer 49, M. Cafferkey 29) & 161 (A. Butt 61, P. McMahon 49no); Bucks 382-8 S. Rippington 4-123) & 207-7 (S. Rippington 3-87).
