Bourne and Nassington advanced to the semi-finals of the Stamford Charity Cup last night (June 1).
Bourne beat local rivals Market Deeping by 22 runs at a chilly and windy Outgang Road, while Nassington overcame similar conditions to win by nine wickets at Burghley Park. Rain meant both matches were reduced to 16 overs per side.
In-form Rob Bentley (42) top scored in Bourne’s 121-8, while Emile Kriek (55) dominated Deeping’s reply of 99-6. Tom Dixon (3-17) bowled well for Bourne who have now won two of the three Twenty/20 matches they’ve played against their neighbours this season.
Bourne travel to Deeping for a top-of-the-table Lincs Premier Division clash on Saturday (June 6).
Nassington will play Bourne in the semi-final on June 15 after racing to their victory target of 87 in just 10 overs. James Pope clubbed 31 and Dan Robinson finished on 27 not out for Nassington after Harrison Craig and Dan Bandaranaike had taken two wickets apiece in the Burghley innings.
The scheduled quarter-finals at Uppingham and Ketton were postponed.
Peterborough Town’s Northants Twenty/20 Cup tie at home to Wollaston tonight (June 2) has been conceded by scehduled opponents Wollaston. Oundle are still due host Weekley & Warkton at Milton Road in their first round tie.
There is Jaidka Cup action tomorrow (June 3) when wins for Barnack at Burghley Park, Deeping at Spalding and Ramsey at March will see them progress to the last four. Defeats for those three teams and the semi-finallists will be determined by the fastest scoring rate. Nassington are already through to the semi-finals.
Deeping beat Spalding in a Lincs Premier Division match comfortably at the weekend (May 30).
There’s a delayed first round tie between Nassington and Uppingham on Thursday (June 4). The winners area away to Stamford Town in the quarter-finals.
