Market Deeping all-rounder Nick Andrews tasted Ashes defeat as England lost their series decider to Australia at Sunbury Cricket Club, Middlesex yesterday (July 3).
Off-spinner Andrews, who lives in Werrington, claimed 3-51 from 18 overs as Australia scored 280 in their innings on Thursday (July 1).
But he could only manage one with the bat as England collapsed from 105-0 to 192 all out and an 88-run defeat in the one innings match.
“It was a very disappointing day,” Andrews admitteed. “That’s the first time we’ve ever lost a series to Australia.”
England and Australia playedg a three-Test Ashes series. England won the first game in Halstead and lost the second game at Middleton-on-Sea.
Andrews had to decline an invite to skipper the side in the first Test as he was on holiday.
