CRICKET: Newborough receive Â£49,000 grant from WREN for new pavilion

WREN are a non-profit-making business who award grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK from funds donated by FCC Environment to the Landfill Communities Fund.

Those funds come from the tax raised on the disposal of waste in landfill sites.

Since 1998, WREN have granted over £150m to more than 6,000 projects which benefit people living within 10 miles of an FCC Environment landfill site.

Peter Cox, managing director of WREN, said: “WREN makes a difference to people’s lives by awarding grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK. We’re delighted to support Newborough & Borough Fen Coronation Playing Fields and their valuable work.”

Mark Goodale, secretary of Newborough Cricket Club, said: “We are so grateful to WREN for their donation. The new pavilion will not only be of benefit to the cricket club but to the whole village. It’s a community project and I’m sure many groups in the village will be looking to use the facility in the future.”
