City club lead the way in Northants series

Peterborough Cycling Club maintained their lead in the Northants & District CA Time Trial Series when performing well at Old on Saturday.

Christophe Demoulin placed third in 45.49, Paul Pardoe was sixth and Kevin Hobbs was 10th and that gave the club a fourth team win from six races.

On the same day over at Dunstable, Graham Wright clocked a personal best 21.32 in the Dunstable RC 10.

Matthew Senter and Alan Brophy raced in the VC Norwich 65-mile road race. Senter was in good form and initiated what turned out to be the race winning move but unfortunately 20 miles in Senter crashed and his hopes crashed with him.

Brophy pushed on and finished 15 th.

On Sunday, Brophy rode with Ian Wild, Mark Hill, Steven Noel and Matt Garfield in the St Neots road race over 55 miles near Sawtry and Garfield led them home in fourth place.

Martina Doroshenko contested the ladies only race in the Letchworth GP and finished a worthy six th .

In the club’s Summer League 10 at Helpston, Kevin Hobbs won in 23.37.

The ride of the evening, however, was by world duathlon champion Claire Steels, who recorded 25.04 for second place.
