Chatteris cueman beaten in European Masters Final despite a fine fightback

Chatteris cueman Joe Perry lost 9-6 in the final of the European Masters in Belgium today (October 7).

Perry was beaten by world number 36 Jimmy Robertson. The winner was playing in his first World Ranking Final. It was a fifth for Perry who has now lost in four finals.

Perry suffered a shocking start losing the first five frames but hit back to trail 5-3 at the interval in Lommel.

But from 7-3 down Perry hit a purple patch winning three frames in a row thanks to breaks of 106, 59. 60 and 110.

Robertson then claimed a tense 14th frame before running away with the 15th frame with a break of 108.

Perry reached the final with a 6-3 semi-final win over fellow Englishman Anthony Hamilton.

Perry, the world number 25, won four frames in a row from 3-2 down to book his final berth.

Perry’s sole World ranking event win came in the 2015 Players Championship.

He wins £35K for his efforts in Belgium.
