Young city boxer TJ Harty was gutted after being denied a place in the semi-finals of the Junior ABA Championships by a controversial points decision.

The 14 year-old southpaw from Walton, a member of the Kettering School of Boxing, looked to have done more than enough to beat Hull’s Jack Donkin in his quarter-final bout in Wakefield at the weekend but the split decision went against him.

“I don’t mind losing a bout but to win clearly and then get robbed of what I deserved is gutting,” said Harty. “Now I’ve got to wait another year before I can put it right.”
