TOP city boxer Michael Maguire is getting expert advice from a leading nutritionist as he bids to win a place in the GB team for the Beijing Olympics.Peterborough mother of two teenage daughters Karen Devine, a 43 year-old consultant of nutritional medicine, homtoxicology and natural healing methods, has agreed to sponsor the young boxing star from Eastfield.
Karen, who has worked with many of the country's top nutritionists over the past seven years, writes articles on various aspects of health and operates as a private consultant.
She has her own website called www.nutritionalenergy.co.uk.
Clive Hogben, Maguire's coach at the Kettering School Of Boxing, said: "I am extremely pleased to have Karen on board with her advice and expertise. It's very important to have the correct fuel being pumped into Michael's system, especially at the top level he operates in. She has set Michael a programme and he should start to reap the benefits within three weeks."
This is Karen's first introduction into dealing with sportsmen and she said she was amazed Michael had achieved so much in his field - seven national titles and a European silver medal – without the benfits of using nutritional supplements.
