Heavyweight Richard Ellison from Werrington made an impressive ring debut for the Peterborough Police Boxing Club last week.

Fighting at the Cambs Police dinner show at St Ives, Ellison stopped Whittlesey Boxing Club opponent Kevin Buckley inside the distance.

Ellison won the bout by on a TKO (technical knockout) in the second round after coneecting with powerful uppercuts against a shorter but tough opponent.

Fletton boxer Paige Nealon, also from the Peterborough Police club, had her second bout and was unlucky to lose out on points to a girl from the Roche Boxing Club.

Alex Tee from Gunthorpe was another Peterborough Police debutant and he had a really tough opponent from the West Ham Boys Club.

Tee never stopped going forward and showed some good boxing skills but a close decision went against him.

The final Peterborough Police fighter in action was Muhammad Abbas Shahid and he also came up against a West Ham fighter. yet again there was very little in it but it was the Londoner who nicked the decision.

In another heavyweight bout, Gaz Norris from Whittlesey lost to Wisbech boxer Shabaz Aslam.

National ABA champion Ryan Adair from Sawtry has joined the Peterborough Police club and will be competing in the National Youth Championships later this month.

Clubmate Nealon is entering the National Junior Cadet championships this month.
