Cello is planning to turn it on for the TV cameras once again

He meets Mike Byles over six rounds at the Genting Arena in Birmingham on Saturday night (March 5).

Sky Sports will be screening the show - and Renda is a real favourite with their viewers.

They got their first glimpse of Renda a decade ago when he walloped Conroy McIntosh inside a round in Plymouth.

Since then, armchair fight fans have seen the Peterborough gunslinger reach a pair of ‘Prizefighter’ finals, win a British title eliminator with a knockout-of-the-year contender and perhaps most memorably of all, share a double knockdown with Paul Samuels.

Renda said: “Being on television definitely brings out the best in me. I get a buzz when I see the cameras. Whenever I’ve boxed on television, I’ve always performed.

“The first ‘Prizefighter’ was a massive breakthrough for me and a lot of people say the final against Martin Murray was the best fight they’ve seen.

“Beating Sam Horton (in a British-title eliminator) was another great night.

“He was unbeaten in 13 fights and being groomed for big things, but tried to fight with me, which he definitely shouldn’t have done - and got knocked out.

“That was one of my favourite knock-outs.”

When picking his favourite knock-out, Renda has a few spectacular ones to choose from.

City fans remember him unleashing his lights-out left hook to flatten Hussain Osman and Rob Burton at the Moat House before he left the dinner circuit behind.

The 30 year-old said: “You get so much more recognition fighting on Sky Sports.

“Every single day, somebody asks me about that double knockdown and every time I fight, people from all over the country wish me luck on social media because they’ve seen me fight on television and like what I do.

“They know I will fight anyone. I never turn a fight down. That’s the reputation I want. Nobody can ever say I’ve had it easy.”

As is often the case, Renda’s fight on Saturday night could be the best of the night.

Byles is a 28 year-old from Warwick who doesn’t have a reverse gear and has caused a couple of upsets in his 11-fight professional career.

He’s won his last three fights and a couple of weeks ago he took just 45 seconds to power to victory.

Also on the show in Birmingham, Sam Eggington, Renda’s stablemate, defends his British and Commonwealth welterweight titles against Bradley Skeete in a much-anticipated clash.
