The Peterborough Police Amateur Boxing Club fighter from Orton Longueville chose to throw punches instead of a party and it earned him rave reviews and a fighter of the night award.

Cocker boxed for a Police Select team against the RAF at RAF Wyton and he maintained his winning run by stopping Corporal Ben Hubbard from the MOD Headley Court.

That made it five wins from five bouts and coach Chris Baker was full of praise for his fighter.

He said: “It was a great performance by Keiran. He’s come on so well in just 12 months and all five of his wins so far have been comfortable.

“He is so keen as well. Two days after the Wyton fight he travelled all the way to Great Yarmouth to box again but his opponent pulled out half-an-hour before the fight.”

Cocker started confidently against Hubbard, getting through with big hooks to the head and body in the first round.

In the second round he worked more behind his powerful jab and forced Hubbard to take two standing counts.

He was on the verge of knocking out his opponent when the referee stepped in to save an outclassed and overpowered Hubbard from further punishment.

“It was a great decision by the referee as the next few punches would have knocked Hubbard out,” said Baker.

Cocker also won the fighter of the night award out of 20 boxers.
