The Peterborough men’s team are through to the last 16 of the Denny Plate, the national inter-club consolation competition for teams beaten in the opening round of the Denny Cup.

They crushed Bletchley 112-60 and now face the Norwich-based County Arts Club on Saturday, January 17.

Home rinks: Howard Shipp, Joe Martin, Phil Afford, Joe Randall. Nick Wilkie, Terry English, Lee Welsford, Neil Wright.

Away rinks: Les Sharp, Graham Agger, Brian Martin, James Harford. Mick Fuller, Mick Linnell, Chris Wheeler, Simon Law.


The Peterborough senior men’s team have suffered a second consecutive defeat in the Cambs League.They lost 64-71 at home to St Neots A but remain top.


Peterborough 64 (3), St Neots A 71 (7) – (Peterborough rinks only):

Mick Fuller, Richard Harrison, John Hadley, Joe Martin won 16-15.

Norman Gray, Jeff Clipston, Mick Greaves, Rod Maplethorpe drew 17-17.

Les Sharp, Ivor Jackson, Don Sutton, Mick Linnell lost 14-18.

Dave Smith, Terry English, Pete Harvey, Wilf Redhead lost 17-21.


Local bowler Nicky Brett has, not surprisingly, retained his place in the England indoor team that will be bidding to regain the British Isles international series from Scotland’s grasp at Stanley IBC from March 12-14.
