City bowler Jenny Harvey has qualified for both the singles finals in the Northants Women’s Bowling Federation indoor county championships.
Already on course to retain the open singles title, she powered her way into the final of the senior singles with a 21-2 defeat of Shirley Suffling.
Her opponent in the final at Stamford on Sunday week will be fellow Peterborough bowler Sheila Craig, a 21-5 winner over Chris Ford in the other semi-final.
Meanwhile, Carol Hunter is set to take over as chairman of the Northants Women’s Bowling Federation following the retirement of Daphne Kew at November’s annual meeting.
However, the county are likely to be without a president or a deputy president this season owing to a lack of volunteers, so county officials will have to share presidential duties at county matches and at the two national championship weeks at Newark and Skegness.
The Peterborough senior men’s team were beaten 83-62 at Cambs League leaders Cambridge Chesterton A, but they are still hanging on to third place.
