Borough turned in a dominant display at Oakham last time out but had to settle for a 15-15 draw after being denied in the final minute when a penalty struck the post and bounced back into play.

Head coach Lee Adamson said: “ We were bitterly disappointed not to win that one. Sport can be cruel sometimes.

“Old Laurentians are unbeaten and we acknowledge they will be a tough nut to crack. But there were many positives to take from the performance at Oakham and we are improving every time we take to the field.”

A first win of the season looked to be on for the Northamptonshire side as they hit the front (18-17) with a Saad Sait try in the 70th minute.

But three minutes from the end Sam Cowell scored from a lineout 10 metres out to nick the tie for Spalding 22-18.
