Samantha Muchina and Megan Sims are two Peterborough Athletic Club runners in red-hot form at the moment.

Both set the Embankment track alight with sizzling perfformances in Sunday’s Eastern Young Athletes League fixture.

Muchina, a newcomer to athletics and competing in only her third meeting, blew away all opposition to record 13.6 in the 100m and 28.0 in the 200m for two A string victories that catapulted her into the top 10 of the UK rankings for both events.

Sims, competing at Under 17 level, went one better to record three A string wins and two of those - 40.8 in the 300m and 25.9 in the 200m - were English Schools qualifying times.

That makes it three events in which Sims has already attained English Schools qualifying times as she has also achieved the mark in her favourite event, the 300m hurdles.

The qualifying times are hard enough to achieve in one event but to achieve the time in three events is outstanding, especially for an athlete who’s still only 14.

Sims, coached by Ron Crosby, trains three to four times per week all year and all the hard work through the winter is now clearly paying dividends.

Elsewhere for PAC on Sunday, Megan Porter continued her fine form with a victory in the high jump and she is currently ranked number one in the county.

Harvey Hancock (Under 13 boys) smashed his PB and recorded his first sub five-minute time in the 1500m.

Ryan Adams and Ben Papworth both recorded A string wins with Papworth setting a new PB and smashing the club record with a time of 39.9 in the 300m.
