A monster fish was caught by a 13 year-old in the big pike match at the weekend on Whittlesey AA waters.
Thomas Moore, fishing with dad Jon in a pairs match, struck into a fish that took his small dead-bait.
Dad came running up with the net but at first thought he had hooked the bottom.
‘Not so’ said Thomas as the huge fish reluctantly started to move around the swim.
After a long tussle the fish was finally netted and went to the scales at 29lb.
Together with a smaller fish of 8lb 2oz the Moore team from Yaxley took first prize on the day and Thomas took the individual honours too.
Unfortunately dad did not contribute, well apart from netting the brace of fish caught by Thomas. Nevertheless it will surely be a day to remember for both of them.
