Whincup wins again on Oak

It's been a good week for Roy Whincup as he topped the Decoy Lakes Over 55s match on Friday fishing peg 30 on the Oak Pool.

The very high and low numbers have not fished well of late but Whincup found plenty of fish on the day willing to feed despite a strong head-wind.

He concentrated on a short pole line with cat meat netting carp to double figures to finish with 161lb.

Runner-up was Gordon Parker with 144lb 4oz, who caught all his fish on sweetcorn, and in third position came Keith Rayment with 142lb 8oz.

With just four matches to go Whincup now holds the lead in the summer series with 24 points, followed by Chris Saunders on 26 and Gordon Parker on 31.

FENLAND RODS

Fenland Rods fished a Saturday match on Six Islands at Decoy Lakes at the weekend and it turned out to be a wise move after heavy rain for most of Sunday spoilt sport for those that still ventured out.

Dave Garner drew ‘hot peg’ 11 and with a good breeze blowing down that end of the lake it was no surprise to see him run out a clear winner.

He fished meat on the running line approach and caught right from the off netting some big carp through out the day to romp home with 190lb 5oz.

Mac Campbell on peg 24 came second catching well late on in the match for 134lb 4oz.

Then came James Garner in third place with 126lb 15oz followed by Matt Lutkin on 109lb 15oz.
