The Over 60s match which takes place every Friday at Float Fish Farm Fishery is starting to attract a good field of anglers.

And don’t be fooled by the age thing - these are very competent, experienced anglers and often a match for the young guns coming through.

Leading the way in the latest match was Jim Garretty, who caught 69lb 7oz on a small feeder fished over to the island.

Mick Linnell came in second with 56lb 4oz, followed by Dave Schwinger on 55lb.

Saturday’s open match on Two Islands saw Roy Wells not only topping the field but also taking the Golden Peg prize money thanks to a 73lb 7oz net of big carp taken on the feeder.

Runner-up was Stan Dow, who caught on a short pole line for 71lb, followed by Ted Rowe, who caught on pellet fished up in the water for 68lb 1oz.

Peterborough & DAA have just announced the news that night fishing is to be allowed on Ferry Meadows. Application forms are available at local tackle shops
