The platform pegs on Whittlesey Dyke usually produce some good catches but the heavy overnight frost at the weekend knocked the bites on the head with all anglers in the Whittlesey AA match finding it tough going.

Match-winner Roger Biddle had a few bonus perch and roach to add to his net of small roach to win this one with a weight of 3lb 15oz.

Andy Bull was second with 3lb 12oz and John Hudson and Brian Tuttlebee joint third with 3lb 10oz.

Alan Forrest won the Webb’s AC match on Horseshoe Lake on the Float Fish Farm complex with a net of small carp taken on the pole and soft pellet weighing in 24lb 14oz.

Ken Allen finished in second place with 21lb 14oz and George Scally was third on 17lb 3oz.

Don’t forget it’s the big March Open on December 21. It will, as usual, be fished on the Old Nene through March town and out to the bypass.

To be sure of getting a peg give match organiser Bob Fitzjohn a call on 07970 673439 to get booked in.
