Ramsey & District Angling Society fished on the Narrows on Sunday, a good reliable venue at this time of year.
Vern Edgley took first place with 18lb 4oz. He caught five good tench on a chopped worm and caster approach.
Runner-up was Ray Myring, who caught three tench for 11lb 14oz, followed by Andrew Wilding in third place with a weight of 8lb 8oz.
It was far from easy for those fishing the Whittlesey AA club match held on the Queensway stretch of the Whittlesey Dyke.
First place went to Mel Saggers with a modest 3lb 9oz.
He caught first on pinkie over groundbait then changed to a chopped worm and caster approach which boosted his weight with some nice plump perch.
Runner-up was Andy Bull on 3lb 2oz.
He caught roach on bread-punch, but when this faded changed to pinkie over squatt and a little groundbait on two lines catching steady throughout the match.
A weight of just 2lb 1oz was enough to put Mark Barron third. He also fished pinkie over groundbait.
