The result from the Ramsey & District Angling Society match fished at Factory Bank shows it’s still a very consistent water even after the frosts.

Paul Kilby won it with 11lb 15oz, catching a better stamp of fish than the rest of the field. Runner-up was Keith Rayment with 8lb 6oz of small roach taken close in on pinkie and then came Harry Young with 7lb 14½oz

This Sunday’s match is the second round of the Winter League and as Factory Bank has been fishing so well the club have decided to return. The draw will be at 8am, and fishing will be from 9am until 2pm.

In the Saturday Open at Rookery Waters clear water on the Magpie Pool made fishing tricky for most of those that could present a bait in the bitterly cold and windy conditions.

Stewart Bracey from hot peg one caught on bread and maggot to win with 68lb 10oz.

Runner-up was venue newcomer Colin Edwards from peg 38 with 56lb 4oz followed by Vince Cross on 51lb 10oz.

In the Wednesday Over 60s Open on Magpie, Roy Whincup drew peg 30 and won with 35lb 4oz. Roger Abbott came second with 26lb 8oz followed by Ken Gammon on 22lb 12oz.
