Over the past few weeks the Beastie Pool on the Decoy complex has given anglers a good guide as to how carp are going to be feeding as we slowly but surely get into winter mode.

Big weights have been hard to come by with 50lb still very respectable.

Thankfully on Sunday a near full house on the lake saw Andy Gausden buck the trend by topping a strong field with a level 82lb.

With not much activity on the pole line, Gausden switched to a pellet waggler and caught throughout the rest of the match to take a comfortable victory from peg two.

On peg three was Roger Gowler. He decided on a pellet bomb as his main approach and did well to finish second with 75lb 1oz.

Peg four saw Mike Mitchell complete the frame. He caught fishing the same tactic for a weight of 64lb 3oz.

Fenland Rods fished the Elm Pool at Decoy and while the car park end of the lake was in poor form the other end fished well. Topping the field was Whittlesey rod Dave Garner. He fished cat meat on the pole close in to finish on 59lb 5oz.

Tony Nesbitt came second with 59lb 8oz followed by Carl Judge in third place on 57lb 10oz.
