Fenland Rods fished the prolific Oak Pool on the Decoy Lakes complex at the weekend and with a few extra pegs available they spread the anglers out around the lake.

The decision to give anglers room was a wise one as some huge weights were recorded and none better than James Garner’s huge 200lb 6oz net of fish.

Drawn on fancied peg 18, Garner fished cat meat on the short pole line, coming into the margins late on to secure the win with some very big carp to double figures.

Runner-up was Matthew Lutkin fishing meat close in for 185lb 6oz. Kev Lee came in third on 174lb 9oz followed by Dave Garner with 147lb 6oz.

In the Tydd Gote AC Wednesday match Len Smith put 12lb 12oz to the scales to take the top spot. Dick Paul had 10lb for second followed by John Taylor on 8lb 11oz.

Jamie Cooper took the honours in the Thursday night match with 13lb 13oz.
Weights fell away then, with Sammy McSpadden coming second with 3lb 6oz and then it was Colin Gibbons with 3lb 4oz.

Sunday’s match on the North Level Drain saw Pete Emery out in front with 9lb 2oz followed by Ray Groom (7lb 12oz) and Andy Greenwood (3lb 12oz).
