Deeping St James AC fished the final round of the South Holland Cup series at Lake Ross near Spalding and many found it tough going after the first autumn frost.
Local rod Richard Bell found the right tactics fishing from peg 17 though. He started on a long pole line fishing banded 6mm pellet before changing later to just off the margins. Feeding micro pellet and maggot with cat meat on the hook he caught some quality carp to weigh in a very respectable 102lb 12oz. This also won him the Jim Measures Memorial Trophy.
Second from peg three was Jon Bowland with 71lb 4oz and third Kevin Crompton with 67lb 2oz from peg 16.
Bowland and Ray Torrington were joint winners of the South Holland four-match series, both on 25 points.
The Rookery Waters Over 60s Open on the Magpie Lake saw Clive Robinson win on peg five with 140lb 4oz.
Runner-up was the consistent Pete Holland on peg 31 with 120lb and third Jim Garratty on peg 12 with 119lb 4oz
On Saturday the Winter Qualifier saw anglers on the Magpie and Raven lakes.
On the Magpie, Richard Bond won with a massive 459lb 5oz from peg 10. Stewart Bracey came second with 257lb 6oz.
On Raven it was Ben Townsend out in front with 140lb from peg 18.
Second was Tim Bates (134lb 9oz) and third Tony Dawson (100lb 10oz).
Fenland Rods fished the Silver Fish Pool at Kingsland Fishery and once again it was Kev Lee and Tony Nisbett battling it out for the top spot.
Lee edged it with 132lb 12oz, taken on the pole with maggot. Nisbett caught 132lb 8oz and then came Mac Campbell with 62lb 3oz.
