Venue expert Nigel Baxter takes some beating when he draws a good peg.

So when he pulled out peg 24 on the Beastie Pool at Decoy in their Midweek Open he was pleased to say the least.

Catching regularly throughout the day fishing a short pole line with maggot he finished top with 64lb 2oz.

Deeping angler Rob Goodson came in second on 39lb 15oz, then came Shaun Best with 33lb 1oz.

OVER 55s

A busy weekend at the Decoy complex started with the Decoy Over 55s match fished on the Oak Pool and the Yew Pool.

Allen Wiggins ran out a comfortable winner with 101lb 10oz of carp taken close in on sweetcorn.

The consistent Vince Hull came in second with 82lb 1oz, followed by Steve Dawkes on 75lb 9oz.

The early numbers on an out-of-sorts Beastie Pool produced most of the leading weights in the venue’s Saturday Open match which saw Spalding rod Tony Evans taking the honours from peg six.

He fished down the edge all day with maggot to weigh in 36lb 3oz.

The consistent Simon Godfrey took second place with 35lb 1oz followed by Bob Fairs on 34lb 11oz.
