Richard Bond and David Rowell became the two latest anglers to qualify for the big £1,000 Grand Final at Rookery Waters.

Bond won the weekend qualifier on the Magpie Pool after just missing out the previous weekend.

He topped a strong field from peg 25 with 119lb 8oz after fishing the margins all day on paste then red maggot. Second was Tony Dawson with 105lb and Steve Tyler was third with 95lb.

In the Thursday qualifier on Jay Lake, Rowell took the honours from peg 45 with 112lb 14oz, followed by Jay Richardson on 95lb and Jon Young with 81lb 8oz.

Roy Whincup won the Wednesday Over 60s match on the Magpie Pool from peg 32 with 108lb 14oz Vic German (88lb 6oz) and Tyler (79lb 2oz).


Rob Hewison won the Ramsey AS match on the Beastie Pool at Decoy.

Drawn on peg 15 on the Beastie Pool, he caught close in with casters up in the water to finish with a fine 181lb 4oz.

It was tight at the top with Pete Holland finishing second on peg 23 with 169lb 6oz.

Then came John Price on167lb 12oz followed by Liam Darler with 162lb 12oz.


Top rod in the Webb’s AC match on the Buttonhole Fishery was Alan Coulson.

He fished a small feeder with sweetcorn to weigh in 91lb 12oz of carp.

Ken Allum fished the pole with pellet to take the runner-up spot with 57lb 14oz and in third place was Martin Harwood on 57lb 8oz.


A wet and windy Yew Pool on the Decoy complex on Sunday saw weights much lower than of late.

Lee Marchant and Roy Whincup tied for top spot with a level 86lb.

Marchant fished the pole with sweetcorn from peg 16 while Whincup at the next peg fished a small maggot feeder.


It was tough going for some in the latest Hotpoint AC match fished on the Six Island Pool at Decoy Lakes.

Winner Frank Herring made light work of the conditions though by taking a comfortable win with 147lb 9oz.

Drawn on peg two, Herring fished tight in the margins with cat meat netting some very big carp.

Tyrone Horn and Chris Shortland battled it out for the runner-up spot on pegs 11 and 13 respectively, with Shortland just taking it with 117lb 2oz. Horn caught 106lb 3oz.


The Yew Lake on the Decoy complex was the venue for the latest Peterborough Conservative Club match which saw Andrew Porter top the field with a 79lb net of carp taken on sweetcorn over pellet. A close second was Terry Tribe with 77lb 11oz followed by Bob Barrett with 69lb 15oz.
